About the Role
We are looking for a highly organised and motivated Transport Manager to take responsibility for overseeing our transport operations. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with transport legislation, manage fleet efficiency, and lead our drivers and logistics staff to deliver safe and cost-effective services.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and oversee the daily operations of the transport function.
Ensure full compliance with all transport regulations, operator licensing, and safety standards.
Monitor fleet performance, vehicle maintenance schedules, inspections, and compliance records.
Lead and support drivers and transport staff, promoting high performance and safety awareness.
Plan and optimise routes, schedules, and deliveries to maximise efficiency and service quality.
Track transport costs, prepare reports, and implement cost-saving initiatives.
Report and manage incidents, accidents, or compliance concerns in line with company procedures.
Maintain accurate HR and compliance records, including driver hours, tachographs, and Right to Work documentation.
Collaborate with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of transport and logistics systems.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Transport Manager or similar role within logistics/transport.
Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation and operator licence requirements.
Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
Strong problem-solving and organisational abilities.
Proficiency with transport or HR management software (experience with Zoho People is an advantage).
CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) is preferred.
